Deep Learning for Remote Sensing Scene Classification

The left panel shows an original image of the class "Airplane". By moving the cursor, the reader can visualize, over the epochs, the evolution of a feature map of the first convolutional layer. At the beginning, the network pays too much attention to the ground of the tarmac. At the end, it focuses more on the characterisitic shapes of the airplanes. However, the shadows appear to remain a source of confusion.
